Standard hotel rooms don’t tend to offer much in the way of living space. In fact, they generally contain only a double bed or two, a small desk, and a television. That’s fine for most travellers, but some prefer a little more space. Hotel suites can provide it, but you’ll generally find yourself preferring a serviced apartment.

Here are just four reasons why.

  1. Unique Living Space

Unless you’re staying in one of the world’s most luxurious hotels, you’ll generally find that hotel suites, while larger than standard rooms, are equally generic. Each one will look more or less the same, with identical furniture used throughout. That’s an approach taken for practical purposes – it lowers costs and makes it easy to move things around. What it doesn’t do is create a very welcoming or homey environment.

  1. Fully-Fitted Kitchen

Some hotel suites will indeed offer some kind of self-catering option. That said, you’re unlikely to find a full kitchen at your disposal. If you’ll be eating out most of the time, that’s not such a problem, but you’ll probably find it hard to cook larger meals if you ever feel like staying in. A serviced apartment will bring all the appliances and fittings of a standard apartment, so there should be no issues when it comes to the kitchen.

  1. Made for Longer Stays

Hotel suites are larger than standard hotel rooms, but they’re still designed more for short-term stays than long-term visits. If you’re hoping to stay in your destination for more than a week or so, you may start to dislike the temporary sensation of hotel living. A serviced apartment feels like a home away from home, and you’ll generally find it easier to book them for longer periods.

  1. Less Expensive

Finally, hotel suites can be incredibly expensive, and you’re unlikely to receive any deals for staying longer. Serviced apartments might cost more than standard hotel rooms, but the price is usually a little lower than that of a hotel suite, and you should find the daily rate falling the longer you stay.
